Great breakdown, Rajita. I enjoyed 'Rocky and Rani' a lot. It was more than just a romantic drama, it addressed every aspect of the relationships and society sincerely. However, I can't say the same for Bawaal. I think the whole World War II trope was unnecessary, that was a serious issue on its own, and the movie takes that part and tries to draw parallel between Hitler and Varun, I think it's a little stretched and needed more sensitivity. Still, I believe it makes up for it a little in the concluding moments.
Hey Prateek, this is a useful addition. Thank you for adding this. I liked the history part in its own but it didn't align with the whole story much. They could have chosen something more plausible from a pov of a middle-class man but yeah like you said it was unnecessarily stretched. And yeah, only after watching Rocky and Rani, I understood what the hype was about.
But the best part here is, despite some exaggerated/unrealistic aspects of storytelling, Bollywood is getting over the idea of beauty standards and toxic masculinity of "mard ko dard nahi hota." I hope they get better with storytelling once again.
Yes, the good thing is that filmmakers are discussing important issues in mainstream movies too. While this year consists mainly of Mass action filled with angry young men's narration, movies like Rocky Rani deserve more appreciation.
I would recommend Made in Heaven S2 if you haven't watched it yet, it's not as good as S1 but it's still a good show.
You're right. Movies like these will start getting attention hopefully.
Oh yes, I have watched it. S1 was absolute love. I agree S2 wasn't as good as S1 but it was still lovely. It dismisses so many ideas of made in heaven love and highlights so many emotional and social aspects of marriage.
I have watched both the movies and both have done a great job of reaching the core of society's evil and things that people are ashamed of showing and talking about in a modern society.
Also, I would love more such breakdowns of movies or anything else from you💐
